『Genome-edited Tomatoes』に関するYouTube動画配信のご案内(7/19配信開始)

政策提言や能力開発を通じてアジア太平洋地域の持続可能な社会経済発展を目指す政府間組織、アジア生産性機構（APO）は、7月19日、ゲノム編集トマトに関するYouTube動画配信を開始しました。このトマトは、ゲノム編集技術で品種改良されたもので、人間の血圧を下げ、リラックスを誘発するガンマアミノ酪酸（GABA）が従来の約5倍含まれます。2020年12月に日本で初めてのゲノム編集食品としてサナテックシード社から関係省庁へ情報提供・届け出されたもので、2021年に同社から一般に販売されています。この動画では、サナテックシード社の最高技術責任者であり開発者でもある筑波大学の江面浩教授が、開発から販売までの歩みを英語で語っています。ご関心のある方は、下記をご覧ください。

Genome-editing technology can add value to crops and promote productivity in agriculture. Genome-edited tomatoes, with about five times the gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) level of traditional ones, are now grown commercially in Japan. GABA reduces human blood pressure and induces relaxation. After government approval in May 2021, Tokyo-based Sanatech Seed Company has ventured into this business. Its Chief Technology Officer Professor Hiroshi Ezura shares the story of its journey.
